Yes. Children aged 5 to 15 pay a reduced rate. Travellers aged 16 and over book the adult rate. Children under 5 generally do not need a ticket of their own.

For an adult who visits all three attractions and uses the bus, the single tickets bought online add up to more than the £ 81 of the ticket - and the Castle time slot is reserved for you. You will receive a voucher by email. Present it at the starting point, Stop GG on George Street (opposite the Assembly Rooms). The Edinburgh Bus Tours staff will issue your Royal Edinburgh Ticket and reserve your time slot for Edinburgh Castle. You can then visit Holyroodhouse and the Royal Yacht Britannia with the same ticket at your own pace.

At the starting point, Stop GG on George Street opposite the Assembly Rooms (EH2 2HT), in the New Town. There you exchange your voucher for the Royal Edinburgh Ticket and can board the hop-on/hop-off bus straight away. Until 30 November 2026 the tours do not serve the former starting point Waterloo Place because of roadworks.

Your time slot for Edinburgh Castle is reserved when you redeem your voucher at Stop GG on George Street. Your entry is guaranteed without needing to book a slot separately beforehand - even in summer, when the Castle's online tickets regularly sell out. More on the page Edinburgh Castle.

Hop off at Lawnmarket for Edinburgh Castle, at Our Dynamic Earth for the Palace of Holyroodhouse and at Ocean Terminal in Leith for the Royal Yacht Britannia - the last one is served by the Regal Tour only. All stops and timetables are on the page Bus routes.

From 15 September 2026 to 31 May 2027 the Palace of Holyroodhouse is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; on those days there is no alternative, so plan the Palace for another day of your 48 hours. The Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed at Ocean Terminal in the port of Leith, about two miles from the city centre; the Regal Tour stops right there. The Historic Scotland Explorer Pass covers Edinburgh Castle and 70 other heritage sites across Scotland, but neither Holyroodhouse nor Britannia nor the bus.
